NEPHROLOGY

Nephrology is the study of normal kidney function, kidney problems, the management of kidney problems and renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation).

Nephrology encompasses a wide range of clinical spectrum and their treatments

• Acute renal failure, a sudden loss of renal function
• Chronic kidney disease, declining renal function
• Proteinuria, the loss of protein especially albumin in the urine
• Hypertension that has failed to respond to multiple forms of anti-hypertensive medication or could have a secondary cause
• Electrolyte disorders or acid/base imbalance
• Polycystic Kidney disease, Systemic autoimmune diseases affecting kidneys.
• End-stage renal failure (ESRD), bone mineral metabolism, renal anaemia
• Renal replacement therapy – Kidney transplantation and Dialysis.
• Kidney Biopsies when indicated
